Welcome

Picture

Art making satisfies the curious part of my nature.  Conceiving and producing an art piece can take years or hours and however that goes, the search for answers to a particular artistic conundrum is always present.  Part of my enjoyment in being an artist is that this search increases alertness in daily life along with attention as to how to express that experience.  The more time I spend in this, the more the language of art reveals it's dialects and intonations, and the more I understand my own unique expressions and the use of visual tools of communication.

I think of each artistic mark as a variance in language, this is why I'm drawn to mixed media such as collage, drawing, oils, acrylic or sewing.  Sometimes the media and its color and form is the direct opposite of the context, used intentionally to accent a point of interest.

Influences emerge from what's important in my life and what I perceive to be important to those of my generation.  I spend time with art pieces of others that I'm drawn to, gazing at the unlocked door to deduce that artist's particular key, is important as a way to hone my own processes.  I cherish the influence of other artists as well as my memberships in recognized artist groups.

This art process is a long one but fortunately for me, engrossing and stimulating, adding meaning to the daily business of living.  Thank you for your interest.
